The Grease RackThe Grease Rack was founded in 1972 by Earl and Joyce Woods as a grill and bar. The business began in the same building it operates in today which was originally a Texaco gas station, hence the name Grease Rack .

In the mid to late 60’s, the gas station operated alongside the Easy Laundry and Easy Car Wash located on the same property. Earl and Joyce also ran the Smoky Mountain Club, a music, dance and dinner establishment on the Asheville Highway. As Earl phased out his involvement in the SMC the idea to transform the gas station into the original grill and bar took hold and by 1972 the new business had begun.

The customers at the time were the ones who named the business and Earl went along with it. The business ran a very robust bar and food business until Earl’s passing in 1991, Joyce and daughter Judy ran the business after that. In 2015 oldest son Buddy and wife LuAn took over the operation of the business.
